About IKAR

IKAR is a private consultancy, engaged in the analysis of the Russian and global agricultural markets and food sector. “IKAR” is otherwise known as “Institute for Agricultural Market Studies”. IKAR’s core focus is Russia’s agricultural commodity markets, in particular grains, oilseeds, sugar, meats, dairy, and two types of fresh produce. The Institute’s research covers the whole vertical commodity chain, from input supply to distribution and the retail of end products. The agency provides regular information and analytical services to subscribers across a broad spectrum of issues in the agricultural sector and generates both short-term and long-term commodity market outlooks. IKAR has its own network of market data sources in the key Russian regions, down to the grass roots level of individual firms and farms. It enjoys access to the databases of the Russian statistical service, Rosstat, the Federal Customs Service, the Ministry of Agriculture and other domestic and foreign institutions. The Institute is engaged in agribusiness industry associations. Its leaders are much sought after for membership of advisory boards and ad-hoc working groups set up by the Russian federal authorities on issues pertaining to domestic agricultural and food policy. Annually we produce dozens of tailor-made presentations and a multitude of bespoke reports. Since 2010 onwards IKAR has been a member of the Global AgriBenchmark project. IKAR’s widely respected price indexes and comments are posted by at Thomson- Reuters, Refinitiv and Bloomberg. Since 2009 we have held a well-attended grain conference in Moscow called “Where the Margin Is”. It is one of the biggest private agricultural and agribusiness conferences in Russia.
